Hanoi was the most beautiful place of all, full of quaint, delicate little streets, winding side roads, markets sprawling everywhere and the bussling noise of an old fashioned town. We could have wandered around for hours.
The local beer is 10c a glass in little outdoor cafes. It is basically brewed along the foot path, you just pull up a chair and order one. Its good beer too, no additives, no hangover and brewed freshly every day. We spent the time talking to an interesting Italian guy, some really friendly, easy going Americans and a rude, spoilt English man who acted like a prat to everyone and started talking down to the others even though it was his first day in Vietnam. He annoyed everyone, but I'd like to think I annoyed him because he got very huffy with my sarcasm and started shouting at me in a fit of rage, ha, ha, I'm here to annoy the annoyers.
We said good bye to Hanoi with a sigh. It was an amazing city, full of spirit and vibrancy, definately the best place in Vietnam.
On the 10th of February we returned to Bankok for one night before flying out to Oz.
